Mukul Hindi School
Mukul Hindi School was founded in 1971, inspired by the vision of Mrs. Medha Bhadkamkar, wife of the High Commissioner of India to Canada. She saw the need for a place where children in the National Capital Region could learn Hindi while staying connected to their cultural roots. With the support of dedicated women from Ottawa’s East Indian community, the idea blossomed into Mukul, a name that symbolizes a flower about to bloom.
From its first classes at the National Library on Wellington Street, Mukul has grown alongside the Indian community of Ottawa and Hull. As families flourished, the school strengthened its commitment to language, culture, and heritage. Over the years, Mukul Hindi School expanded its programs and now operates under both the Heritage and International Language Programmes of the Ministry of Education in Ontario. It continues its mission to nurture identity, pride, and cultural belonging for new generations.
